Chiptune Radio Caprice on air

Chiptune Radio Caprice broadcasts live from Moscow, featuring Electronic, Electronic music.

Radio Caprice Chiptune is a electronic music channel from the Radio Caprice network, dedicated to classic and modern chip-based sound. The station focuses on raw, synthetic timbres inspired by early computers, game consoles, and tracker culture.

Chiptune is music generated in real time by sound chips rather than recorded samples, a technique that flourished from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s with platforms like Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum. Sounds are built from simple waveforms and noise channels, often programmed directly or created using tracker software. Limited polyphony and sharp tonal contrasts shaped the genre’s distinctive arpeggios and rhythmic patterns. Over time, the term expanded to include modern compositions that emulate vintage chips on contemporary systems, as well as tracker formats such as MOD and XM. Closely linked to demoscene culture and retro gaming, chiptune remains a symbol of technical minimalism, creative constraints, and digital nostalgia.
